Summary

Engineering leader with 12+ years in distributed systems, data platforms and machine learning. Today: LLM security and inference optimization, U.S. Air Force / DoD supply-chain security, and open-source leadership.

Experience

Constellation Network

September 2021 – Present
Director of EngineeringSan Francisco
  • Technical lead for a multi-year U.S. Air Force / DoD supply-chain security program: built the research prototype, then led the team delivering a platform for securing and verifying defense supply-chain data.
  • Built Gate AI, a prompt-injection and jailbreak detection model for LLM applications: 97.4% F1 at a 1% false-positive rate across 16 public benchmarks (12,111 samples), with the evaluation methodology published on arXiv.
  • Prototyped an LLM pipeline for HIPAA-regulated health data on Amazon Bedrock, with isolated environments for protected health information and a hybrid model combining traditional ML with LLM-derived features.
  • Applied LLM compression and KV-cache optimization to cut inference memory, latency and serving cost.
  • Lead the company's open-source project: roadmap, architecture, code review and releases.

Bloomberg LP

August 2019 – September 2021
Senior Software EngineerSan Francisco
  • Portfolio Analytics (PORT) Data Transparency team: built the greenfield prototype of a Parquet-based Portfolio Enterprise Data Lake for large enterprise customers.
  • Integrated time-series storage and analytics with BQL for batch financial reports.
  • Contributed Jupyter and Spark portfolio notebooks to the Bloomberg Data Science Platform; internal Spark contributor.

Constellation Labs

April 2018 – July 2019
VP of EngineeringSan Francisco
  • Founding engineer and engineering lead for the company's open-source distributed data platform.
  • Built the early core system; grew and led the team, owning hiring, planning, releases and documentation.

Salesforce Inc

March 2017 – April 2018
Senior Performance EngineerSan Francisco
  • Einstein Readiness (big data / ML) team: contributor to TransmogrifAI, Salesforce's open-source AutoML library for Spark.
  • Owned performance for TransmogrifAI-powered products: Sales Cloud Lead Scoring, Marketing Cloud Einstein Engagement Scoring, Einstein Prediction Builder and Service Cloud Case Classification.

Radius Intelligence

September 2013 – March 2017
Data ScientistSan Francisco
  • Built the company's first Spark cluster on AWS and migrated the data pipeline from Cascading to Scala Spark.
  • Scaled marketing segmentation from single-machine Python to distributed Scala, Spark and Algebird.
  • Developed ML models for business de-duplication, lead scoring and customer-signal analysis across CRM integrations.
